Meet Triple L Welcome to Triple L Southdowns! Be sure to visit our blog to keep up during both the lambing and show seasons! We want to introduce you to our crew!
Allie Krieger (Shafer) was a very active showman in her days of 4H on the county, regional, and at select National shows. Allie has been rooted in her parents' operation at Shafer Show Stock from the beginning and as the Shafer grandchildren arrived her fuel has been ignited even more.

Miles Krieger is the resident city boy. Growing up in Southern Indiana, on the Sunnyside of Louisville, Kentucky, the idea of show stock did not exist for Miles until marrying Allie. Shortly after moving back to Daviess County, it was time to get to work and with the help of Terry, Tonya, and Allie, Miles has become quite the farm boy! He is focused on the marketing/social media portion of Shafer Show Stock and Triple L Southdowns.

The 3 L's
Landrey is 11 years old and has hit the show circuit with tremendous effort over the last three years. Her favorite shows thus far have been the All-American Junior Show and the North American Livestock Expo. She has competed in ten different states in her short showing career with her Hampshires and Southdowns. She enjoys all aspects of the animals and loves to go to shows with judging and Skillathon competitions where she can put her knowledge to the test. In 2022, she competed in her first public speaking contest at the North American. Landrey dreams of being a veterinarian and future Boilermaker!
Lynnly is 7 years old and is the resident "spit fire" at Triple L Southdowns. Lynnly has really loved following in her big sister's footsteps and is starting to find her stride in the show ring. Showing means many things to Lynnly but hanging with friends and eating ALL the snacks is her favorite aspect! Lynnly has a new fall born in our barn that she can't wait to show named "Mandy"
Lachlan Krieger 4, but don't be fooled by his age, he is the supervisor of the barn. In just four short years, he has spent many hours in the barn...scattering feed from place to place, climbing gates, and swinging from the walker! Lachlan is fond of the sheep and loves to pet all of our animals in the barn, but his favorite aspect is "pedaling" around the shows. At the North American in 2022, Lachlan made his debut in the show ring with an assist from mom. 2023 at the age of 3, Lachlan won his division of Showmanship at the All American.

About Our Sheep
-
Triple L was officially launched in the winter 2019 when we purchased our first Oldenburg Southdown ewe. We named her "Okie" to pay tribute to her roots. "Okie" was a class winner at the Indiana State Fair Open, top 3 in her February class of the All American, and Reserve Southdown at the Indiana Stock Show. She was a tremendous showmanship partner for Landrey, and she has become one of our foundational pieces for breeding.
-
Winter of 2020 we purchased our second February Oldenburg ewe, "Oakley". Unfortunately, "Oakley" missed much of the 2020 show season due to illness. However, she rallied and went to NAILE, where she finished 6th in the Jr. Show and 3rd in the Open for her class of February ewes. "Oakley" and Landrey had a successful year together with a win in Yearling class at North American Open and was the breed winner of the Nash Bash Lamb Clash. We are anxious to breed her for fall babies in 2022.
-
"Pearl" joined the flock in 2021 from, once again, Oklahoma. "Pearl" was 5th in her class at North American and second in her class at the Indiana State Fair Open show. We're excited to present "Pearl" as a yearling this show season.
-
"Stella" In the summer of 2021 we excitedly incorporated Hired Hand genetics into our program. "Stella" Hired Hand 1008 found her way into many showmanship finals for both Landrey and Lynnly throughout the summer and fall of 2021. "Stella" was the Reserve Southdown at the Indiana Stock Show and the breed winner at two fall open shows we attended. In 2022, she hit the ground running as a yearling and ultimately had a year we may never replicate again. Senior Champion Indiana State Fair, Breed Champion Aksarben, Breed Champion/Fourth Overall Indiana Stock Show, 2nd in class at the North American Jr. and Open Shows and Reserve Crawford County Open Show.
-
"Jewel" A purchased bred ewe from Bowers Southdowns brought us "Jewel" and a twin sister "Winter". "Winter" was sold in the 2022 National Sale. "Jewel" was shown just a few times and was put in to production in 2023. She was bred to a buck we own for Falls. She recently lambed, and we are anxious to watch their growth.
-
"Diamond" Our first time using Burns Stock Farm buck battery brought us triplets out of "Okie". We lost one ewe lamb, the wether was sold out of the barn, and we kept the bottle baby. She isn't much of a bottle baby these days. We are planning to put her in to production in 2024.
-
"Gemma" an Oldenburg, February 2022 was added in the spring of 2022. She was a class winner at the All American, third place Southdown at the Indiana Stock Show, and served as Landrey's showmanship partner for many shows throughout the summer.
-
"Bambi" an April born Hired Hand was added at the beginning of the summer. We loved Stella's growth and wanted to try to bring a similar sheep in to the flock. Bambi was a welcomed addition. Right out of the gate Lynnly won showmanship at the All American with her.
-
"Dixie" In the fall of 2022 we purchased a bred Hired Hand ewe for Aaron. She was confirmed pregnant and we will anxiously be awaiting the arrival of a baby or two in February.
-
"Sugar" At the Stars of Louisville Sale at the North American, we purchased, an Oldenburg ewe that we showed as a yearling in 2023. She will have her first babies in 2024.
-
"Goldie" We purchased our first KDK Southdown in the Winter of 2023. "Goldie" is a late Fall Ewe and she was the Futurity winner for her division in 2023. She is out of "Anthem" a KDK buck we believe has been one of the most influential over the last few years.
-
"Summer" Burns Stock Farm in Flora, Indiana, had been on our destination list for a few years. We had used one of their bucks in 2022, and developed a good relationship with Ricky and Richard.
-
"Nala" Hired Hand Southdowns in Texas, has been one of our go to places to get a ewe lamb over the last few years. With the success of "Stella" we have been intrigued by what Aaron and his family can bring us with each ewe.
-
"Barb" KDK had a great ewe named "Fancy" that was incredibly influential in their flock. Forsee Southdowns purchased a "Fancy" daughter and used her to bring different genetics in to their ewe base as well. In the fall of 2023, we purchased "Barb" bred to Forsee's "Next Up" for babies in 2024. We are anxious to see what comes from this mating as "Next Up" has been incredibly impactful for Forsee.
-
"Cleo" Okie x KDK "Notorious" brought us "Cleo", Lynnly's 2023 showmanship sheep. Cleo's twin was sold in Dudes and Divas in April and went on to be second in her class at the Illinois State Fair. "Cleo" has some pretty neat pieces, we are anxious to get her bred in 2024 and see if she can't impact our flock in 2025.
-
"Mandy" Triple L Southdowns first ever Fall Born. We raised this girl out "Gemma" and a mating to KDK's buck "Hired Gun". She will be shown by Lynnly in the summer of 2024, and has already become a tremendous barn pet.
