A show that has been on our bucket list for the last several years was Aksarben. Aksarben, is in Grand Island, Nebraska, and is truly one of the most competitive shows in the country annually. To participate in the show, you have to be from one of fifteen invited states and you must be nine years old which made Landrey officially eligible this year.

Landrey, Allie, and Terry hit the road for a big few days of showing and another long trip on the roads to show the last week of September. The experience was tremendous as Landrey got to meet some new friends, and show in an all-new venue.

Friday night was a very deep Showmanship competition. Landrey made the first sift in the division of 9-13 year olds. While she was disappointed with the outcome, we were proud of the effort she put forward to get a button into the top competitors.

Sunday the Ewe show took center stage at the Five Points Bank Arena with all four of our sheep set to compete. "Stella" continued her hot streak winning the Southdown breed and putting Landrey on the front row of the champion drive. While we held out hope that she might hit the prestigious top 5, she was a bit short of reaching the goal.

Other highlights included "Bambi" winning the April Southdown class, and "Lucy" winning the Yearling Hampshire class. All in all the trip was great and we will definitely plan to head back out to the Cornhusker state in the future. Nebraska is state #9 in Landrey's bucket list to hitting 48.
