"Boots" wins Southdown Market Show @ NAILE

Louisville, Kentucky

New for 2023, the American Southdown Junior Association sponsored a Market Show as part of the breeding show at Louisville's prestigious North American Live Stock Expo.

"Boots" our Burns Stock Farm wether has been solid throughout the year, winning his class at the Indiana State Fair, finishing as the breed champion at the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival, and several other shows over the course of 2023, but his crowning achievement may have been at the end of his show career. The main objective for "Boots" was to be Landrey's market showmanship partner and we kept him driving with hours of conditioning, so he looked the part in the showmanship ring, but as fate would have it, he didn't get to compete in showmanship because of a scheduling conflict.

On Sunday after the Rams and Ewes had been chosen as champions, the wethers took to the green shavings. In the inaugural year of sponsoring the division in Louisville, Landrey and "Boots" claimed the title of Champion, as well as the beautiful purple banner.

We truly can't thank Burns Stock Farm enough for trusting us with him and giving us feedback throughout the year. Additionally, "Boots" was placed by Johnson Family Show Stock, and for their efforts we are grateful as well! It was a pretty awesome way to end the year with the Association.
