For the first time in all our years of showing we purchased a Futurity eligible ewe from KDK Southdowns with the hope of being able to gather points from the events we run. The Futurity is sponsored by the Southdown Association and is divided into seven different divisions; Yearling, Early Fall, Late Fall, January, February, March, and Market. To be eligible for Futurity points the animal must be nominated by the breeder, purchased from an online sale, or sanctioned sale by the association.

Over the course of the season, you submit your placings for the events you showed at and your top five scores are tabulated against the others in the division. At the end of the season the awards are presented at Louisville, and some fantastic awards as well as prize money are presented.

"Goldie" was consistently in the top 2-3 finishers at the majority of the shows we attended, while also winning Supreme Ewe at the Tennessee State Fair. The larger the class the animal competes in, the more points it is eligble to earn.

Landrey was incredibly excited to bring home the traveling trophy for the Late Fall Division. We are sure it will be hard for her to hand it back in for next years winner but maybe she can fight to keep it in Washington, Indiana, another year.

We feel so honored to be members of the Southdown Association. Truly, it is our belief that the breed is second to none in the effort they put in to the kids and their investment back in to them. Thank you to all of the parties involved and to the board for increasing the financial commitment even further in 2023.

Lastly, we want to send our greatest appreciate to the Smerchek Family, KDK Southdowns for trusting us with "Goldie".
