In the coming years, as our kids grow and get older, June 30th, 2023, might be a day we reference but never reach again. Wednesday night we loaded up the trailer and headed north to Madison, Wisconsin, for the middle of the summer highlight to our schedule, the All American Junior Show. Record entries numbers were submitted, with rumors swirling that more than six hundred Southdowns would be in the ring for competition.

Friday June 30th, was the kickoff for the show and after the Olympic style opening ceremonies, where showman are processed into the arena holding flags from their state, showmanship got underway in all three rings. For our L's, Lachlan was competing in the Red Ring at the same time Landrey was competing in the White Ring. Showmanship was a last minute decision for our little L, as he saw his sisters prepping and decided he needed to as well.

In 2022, Landrey and Lynnly both won their divisions and were two of the more than ten division winners from Indiana to claim the honor. It didn't seem fathomable that we would have an oncore performance but we certainly did as Lachlan became the first L and first division winner of the day. While Lachlan was being talked about for his success by the judge, Landrey were trying to separate herself from her competitors in a very deep group of ten year olds.

Ultimately, Landrey was chosen as the winner of her division in the White Ring, and thus we had, had two L's capture the honor again. With that Lynnly, went to work in the Red Ring with her showmanship partner "Cleo". We didn't tell her that her brother and sister had both won, as to prevent her from being even more nervous. Lynnly and "Cleo" were on the same page, they crushed it and for the third consecutive year in a row, Lynnly was chosen to win her division. She was so excited and collectively we all just shook our heads trying to digest the enormity of what had just happened. It was a day for the history books and one we will strive for, for the coming years or decade.

After the individual showmanship, team showmanship took place with Peyton Howe teaming up with Lynnnly, and Lilly Williamson joining Landrey to form a pretty impressive duo. Both girls and their partners made it in to the top five of their respective age divisions but ultimately did not win.

What a first day in Madison! The kids also submitted logo design, poster boards, tshirt designs, and participated in the skill-a-thon, virtual shearing, and judging competition. The All American is a Krieger Family top honoree annually.
