We made the trip north to Noblesville, Indiana, this past weekend for the Southdown Association's National Sale and Show. It was great to get back out on the road and show some sheep. Over the years we have met some wonderful

Friday was the show for the sale order, which was held on Saturday morning. Our January ewe "Winter" that we consigned finished up fifth in her class. As we stood in line with the National breeders, it was a charge of enthusiasm for the future as we hope to breed a few more Southdowns each year. After each class, the prospective buyers were invited to the ring to handle the animals and get a closer look. This was a unique experience and one we truly enjoyed as we got to receive some immediate feedback from a few interested shoppers.

It is awesome just how widespread the footprint of the livestock industry is, as our sheep went to a buyer from Maine. I haven't experienced all of the breed associations, but I am confident in saying the Southdown Association does a fantastic job of promoting the breed, enhancing the junior's experience, and creating a family environment for all involved. The board of directors, the junior board, and the membership, all share a similar vision for promoting the breed with all of the programs and events they plan.
